William Clark Bellar, 2008
A graduate in 1963, William was a part of both the football and basketball teams from 1959-63.
William was a member of the 1960 and 1961 football teams that went undefeated both seasons. He served as captain his senior year and was named to the All Red River Conference Team three straight years. He was also named to the All-Mid-State Football Team by both the Tennessean and the Nashville Banner in 1960, 1961 and 1962. During his senior year, William was one of the leading scorers in the mid-state, scoring 11 touchdowns in a schedule that included only 6 games. In basketball, William was team captain his senior year. He was recognized as All-Conference during this time. After graduating, William served two years in the US Army. Returning to Greenbrier, he continued to remain active in athletics, coaching in the Junior Pro Football program from 1969-1981. |
