Trena Smiley Bradshaw, 2019

Trena  is a 1980 graduate of GHS.  She played basketball all 4 years in high school and volleyball for 3.
Competing at championship levels is well-known to her.  Here's what her 4 years of basketball shows:
  • Freshman year (1976-77) -- Record 27-5.  Robertson County Invitational Championship, District 9-AA Champion, Region 5-AA Champion and advancing to the sub-state. She also earned All-Tournament honors as a freshman at the Vol State Conference Tournament.
  • Sophomore year (1977-78) -- Record 23-6. Won the following championships: Shelbyville Holiday Tournament, Volunteer State Conference Tournament, District 8-AA regular season and tournament.  She was selected to the All-Conference Team and the All-District Team.
  • Junior year (1978-79) -- Record 27-5. Robertson County Invitational Championship and the District 8-AA Tournament. She received the following honors: All-Tournament, All-Conference, All-District, and All-State Honorable Mention.
  • Senior year (1979-80) -- Record 27-1 with an undefeated regular season and ranked #1 in the state. District 8-AA and Region 5-AA Champions, advancing to the state tournament before losing in the finals.  Trena received the following honors: All-District, District Tournament MVP, All-Mid-State.
Trena was a member of the inaugural volleyball team at GHS in 1977-78. That team won the District Tournament and she was selected to the All-Tournament team. Her junior year, the team finished with a record of 32-4, won the District Tournament, and she was again selected to the All-Tournament team. In her senior year, the team made its first appearance in the State Tournament in school history and she was named to the All-District and All-Tournament teams.
She received an athletic scholarship to Middle Tennessee State University where she played both basketball and volleyball
Trena served as assistant volleyball coach at GHS from 2002-2007 and was part of the State Championship Team in 2007.
