A 1968 graduate, Ronny was an outstanding member of both the basketball and baseball teams at GHS.  As a member of the basketball team he still holds the record for the Season All-Time Assists Average at 9.3 per game. He was also a member of the inaugural GHS Baseball Team in 1967. During the 1968 season, he helped lead GHS to a monumental win over Cookeville High School in the districyt tournament.

After graduating from APSU, Ronny went on to become a very successful coach at Jo Byrns High School for the next 43 years, where as a head coach he amassed almost 1,000 wins.

In his 43 years of coaching basketball he recorded 573 career wins, which included 13 District Championships, 6 Regional Cha,mpionships, appearances in several sub-state tournaments, and one state tournament appearance.

He also coached baseball at Jo Byrns for 39 years. He recorded 426 wins, which included 5 district championships,

He considers being the leader in career assists average and playing in the Region Tournament in the Nashville Municipal Auditorium (1968)  as the highlights of his playing career. He most enjoyed his coach's (Clyde Witherspoon) dedication and leadership he had for the basketball and baseball teams as well as the lifetime memories with his teammates and the friendships that he experienced playing high school sports.
