Nalan Fox, 2007
Nalan was a 1958 graduate of GHS. He quarterbacked the 1957 football team that went 8-0 and claimed the Lower Cumberland Valley Conference title. He also served as captain of the football team that year. The Nashville Banner's All-Mid-State Team his senior year.
Nalan played guard on the basketball team. During his senior year, the team went 13-6. After graduating Nalan remained active in sports, playing baseball and softball in Nashville, Fayettville and Huntsville, Alabama. He was diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease in 1989, but continued to focus on his love of sports and family and was able to continue following athletics as he battled the terminal disease. Nalan's passion was sports and he often expressed his appreciation of the discipline he learned from coaches Harold Fletcher and Blue Howse. He frequently spoke of the value of teamwork and other lessons he learned from his athletic participation. |
