W. H. "Blue" Howse, 2006
Blue House became the coach at Greenbrier High in fall of 1956. He coached football, boys and girls basketball through his tenure that lasted until the end of the 1962 school year.
He directed three undefeated football teams, including the longest undefeated streak in school history with the 1960 and 1961 teams. These teams were recognized as being both the top offensive team and the top defensive team in the state. Mr. Howse's basketball teams were also winners. He led the boys team to the District 20 Championship and a second place finish in the Region 5 tournament. His girls team had an undefeated season, won the District 20 Championship and a victory in the March of Dimes Game against NIL Champion, DuPont High School, at Vanderbil's McGugin Center. Mr. Howse continued his coaching and teaching career at Springfield High School. He also served at Superintendent of Robertson County School for a period of time. |
