Joe Suter, 2008
Joe graduated in 1949 and participated in multiple sports while attending GHS. from 1946-49. Joe played a big role in the success of the football and basketball teams. He was named to the All-Tournament Team in basketball.
His most memorable accomplishments, however, were found on the baseball diamond. Joe remained undefeated as a 135-pound pitcher during his high school days and is remembered as a ferocious competitor on the playing field. Joe continued his baseball career both during a post-high school, participating in the Larry Gilbert League. Competition in this league was recognized as prestigious and top-notch. Joe was a member of the Nashville Sporting Goods team and the Coca-Cola team. Overall, he compiled a total record of 68 wins and 8 losses, including 2 no-hitters. |
