Larry Fisher, 2006
Larry was a member of the 1929-30 basketball team that finished third in the state his sophomore year. According to the family history, Larry's mother sold a country ham that was being saved for Christmas in order to finance his trip to the State Tournament. It is also believed that Larry had to borrow tennis shoes to play the sport during the height of the Great Depression.
Larry also played professional minor league baseball for the Cincinnati Reds, playing in both the Texas and Evangeline Leagues. A highlight of his baseball career including participating in an all-star game with "Pee Wee" Reese. |
