1979-80 Women's Basketball Team, 2016

The 1979-80 GHS Girls Basketball team, coached by Weldon "Jake" Gibbs, is unique in that it honors a team. This team went undefeated during the regular season that year and finished with a 27-1 record, losing their only game by one point. Most of the year they were ranked as the number one team in the state. Several of these girls won individual honors for their efforts during the season. The team provided the community with a great deal of pride, not only for their successful year but also the example they set for other girls who followed in the athletic programs at GHS.
